2010 Honda Civic hatchback(U.K)

Ladies and Gentlemen: This is what the all-new UK-built 2010 Honda Civic hatchback is apparently going to look like. According to AutoExpress, these exclusive shots show how the popular hatch will look when the next generation Civic hits showrooms in 2010.

Looking less like a space-ship than the current model, the futuristic looking hatch draws many of its design cues from the recent Honda OSM (‘Open Study Model’) concept car which made an appearance at the British Motor Show.

2011 BMW 7series

With all the talk of increased fuel economy and smaller engines making more and more power, it’s no surprise that BMW is bringing a 6-cylinder engine back to its 7-Series car for 2011. Available currently with only V8 or V12 power, the new 740i and 740li are the first 7-Series cars to feature a 6-cylinder engine since 1995 if my research is to be believed (let me know if I missed something). The engine will be familiar to BMW fanatics and owners of 2008-2010 BMW 335 and 535 cars, as it’s a slightly more powerful variant of the twin-turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine used in them.
So what’s all this going to cost? Including an $875 destination charge, the 740i will have a starting price of $71,025, while the 740li long wheelbase sedan will start at $75,425. Considering that the 2010 BMW 750i starts at $82,000, the new 740i and 740li will make the 7-Series available to more buyers, which is definitely a good thing in our current economic state.

Volkswagen Golf GTI

In the case of the Volkswagen Golf GTI generation VI, the fascination for Stuck began once again with the engine: “It is extremely important that the current GTI, like the last one, should be another turbo. This boosted high-tech engine fits in perfectly with our times. It is more fuel efficient than a large displacement engine, but thanks to the turbocharger it is just as athletic.” And that is a key aspect of the Volkswagen Golf GTI tradition too: As early as the second generation, the G60 had an impressive boosted four cylinder engine (118 kW / 160 PS). Later, the era of boosted GTI engines really gained momentum with the fourth generation in the “Golf GTI 132 kW” (the exact name). The technology and times were ready for this approach. A limited edition (3,000 cars) of the 132 kW / 180-PS version was introduced on the VW Golf GTI’s 25th anniversary in 2001. Although there had already been a 150-PS turbo, it did not yet have the aggressive punch of the anniversary version. With the launch of the Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk V, an entirely new turbocharged four-cylinder engine was employed, which delivered a power of 147 kW / 200 PS. On the 30th anniversary of the GTI, a 169 kW / 230 PS turbo engine was introduced in the VW Golf GTI Edition 30. Somewhat later, this new engine also powered the second Pirelli GTI.

Saab BioPower(great invention)

The 2.0t BioPower engine delivers peak power of 147kW* and 300Nm* of maximum torque on E85. Running on E85 the BioPower 2.0t engine produces at least an additional 18kW* (147kW vs. 129kW*) and an extra 35Nm* of torque (300Nm vs. 265Nm*) compared to running on regular unleaded petrol.

Saab BioPower is part of the broader Saab environmental strategy EcoPower, which combines the enjoyment of a dynamic driving experience with the efficient use of resources to achieve responsible performance.

The EcoPower strategy blends turbocharging, engine rightsizing, Saab BioPower, aerodynamic performance and weight-saving design

2010 Audi A5 Sportback - First Drive Review

With frameless windows and a fast, sloping roofline, the A5 Sportback is a handsome car, but a new concept it is not—sleek hatchback variants derived from their sedan brethren were common in the 1970s. Audi's own original Avant models, for instance, arrived as fastback hatches in 1977 and remained as such through the third-generation Audi 100/5000 sedans, until they were finally replaced with a conventional boxy wagon style in 1990.

The "Sportback" concept goes back quite a ways inside of Audi Design, too. Initially proposed in the late 1990s—down to the name—by designer Marc Florian (now at GM), it morphed through several iterations over the years before it finally emerged as this car and the upcoming A7.

FORD TAURUS-SHO

Most auto industry awards today are given to vehicles based on engineering, technology, environmental, and design factors, but when it comes to the touchy-feely response many of us have towards our vehicles, only the ICOTY awards gauge that reaction.

In fact, since being launched in 1997 by Road & Travel magazine, the International Car of the Year (ICOTY) award has strived to find cars that American drivers believe reflect their lifestyles. Each year ICOTY car and truck awards are given with the 2010 winners announced on Wednesday at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show
